Copyrights are important to all artists. Creating artwork is how artists make their living. When copyrights are infringed upon, the livelihood of the artist is at stake. Working with 3D art artists enter a digital world where their work can be copied and sent around the world with a push of a button. There are advantages to this digital process, but there are liabilities.

With the ability to use the digital images of others, 3D scanning real objects and 3D printing or CNC milling to reproduce images, how can an artist be sure that they are not infringing on another person’s copyrights and how can they protect their own artwork?

Along with the Intellectual property discussion of Copyrights Bridgette will begin a dialogue about the responsibilities and ethics of 3D technology as it relates to such things as Bio printing and regenerative medicine, the 3D printing of guns and the changes in the digital world we live in.
